You want to work with us? Well, that’s a great
start! However, you’ll need to make sure that
you fit the bill. We won’t just work with
anyone out of desperation, you know. Here’s
what we want to see from our linguists:
Desirable criteria:
| |
|
 |
Experience in a certain sector. |
 |
 |
 |
Software skills with lots of different packages
especially translation memory and terminology
management. |
 |
 |
 |
A borderline-psychotic obsession with formatting,
spelling and grammar. |
 |
 |
 |
Cycling proficiency certificate or a 10m
swimming certificate (optional, but you never
know). |
 |
 |
 |
A genuinely honest, open and helpful attitude.
We like to establish long-term working partnerships
with people we (and our clients) can trust
and turn to for help. People who can accept
constructive criticism. People who can understand
the relationship between linguist, service
provider and the end-user. People who understand
what true customer service is and will work
as part of our team to provide it. If you’re
not going to be able to do your absolute best
for every job and you think you might just
get away with it occasionally, or if you think
that asking questions is an impediment to
progress, then we’d rather you didn’t
apply as it’ll be a waste of time for
all concerned. |
Essential criteria:
You should be a native speaker of the target language and a competent linguist with your skills acquired through one or more of the following:
