The Shona language

An interesting fact about Shona:
The Shona written system was only fixed in 1951 and the first book appeared in 1957.

Our Shona linguists

As well as being qualified and tested linguists all our Shona translators and interpreters sign up to our code of conduct which governs expected quality levels and ensures confidentiality. In addition, our database keeps track of all their specialist areas so we can find exactly the right person for your assignment.

Shona translation

For Shona translations, Geo works with qualified, expert translators. All our Shona translators are professionals translating into their mother tongue. Normally they will live in the country where the target language is spoken so that they remain up to speed with the language and culture. The only time this doesn't work is if the translator is required to have knowledge about a linguistic community outside the target culture... for instance if our Shona translator who is based in the target country might not have the necessary understanding or terminology to translate a document for the Shona community in the UK dealing with UK bodies and concepts..e.g. the Financial Ombudsman or the NHS. In these instances Geo works with qualified Shona translators in the UK to use the correct, established terminology. See our translation section for more information on Shona translation or have a look at our industries section. If you need help with back translation from Shona, then we also have a great database of validated, high quality translators to meet your needs.

Shona interpreting

Geo has an extensive database of great people for Shona interpreting. Our Shona interpreters are selected for their expertise, knowledge of specialist areas, friendly professional attitude and consistently good feedback. See our interpreting section for more information on Shona interpreting or have a look at our industries section.

Shona typesetting

Typesetting in different languages can be tricky if you don't know what you're doing. Hyphenation rules change. Fonts sometimes aren't supported in some design packages. Some languages read left to right (like English), others (like Arabic) read right to left. Shona is no different, but you can rest assured that we can help you. See our typesetting section for more information on Shona typesetting or have a look at our industries section.

Shona media services

Geo can even offer Shona voice-overs, Shona dubbing, Shona audio and video recording s and Shona subtitling. See our media services section for more information or have a look at our industries section.
