In order to ensure we continue to provide the best possible translation service to all of our clients we follow a pretty complex, but very thorough, set of quality measures. We all like a picture... so here's a simplified flow chart showing our quality procedures which demonstrates what we have to do to make sure our translations meet the required standard:

To read more about our translation quality commitment have a look at the quality section.

Translation

At Geo we translate large volumes of text for a broad spectrum of industries. Anything from translation of websites, legal notes on diamond heists, financial reports, software manuals and promotions for hotels cross our desk daily. No matter what the industry we have the ability to offer you a complete solution for all your foreign language documentation. Have a look at the industries section and choose the areas most relevant to your job or industry to see how we have helped our clients.

We offer two levels of service:

  Publication
A top quality translation designed to be sent to press worry-free. This should be used on most occasions. It'll be translated by a professional translator, proofread and edited by a second, completely independent translator and checked by us in-house.

Information
If your text is for information only, doesn't have to be professionally edited and doesn't need consistency of style and terminology, then this might suit you better. Translations for information can be turned around more quickly and, because the proofreading phase can be omitted, will be cheaper.

Localisation

Translation is one of the steps of localisation. Localisation is the act of preparing your product or text for a local market or many markets (which is called "Internationalisation" or "Globalisation").

It is most often applied to:

Websites
Software
Brands and packaging.

It might involve adjusting the obvious things like phone numbers, currencies, measurements etc. or involve more complex issues of meeting local legal and financial requirements or adjusting images so that they don't cause offence to local markets. Each and every project is different so call us to discuss.

Back translation

Back translation is the act of translating something back into its original language, normally as part of a quality or validation process. It allows you to check that the translation says what it should in exactly the right way and hasn't been misunderstood by the original translator.

We're pleased to say that we are the preferred supplier of back translation for one of the world's largest medical research establishments and have masses of experience of back translation from all languages and even dialects.

Free translation by computer

Free machine translation (MT), where a computer effectively does the translation for you, is free for a reason - it isn't very accurate. A free translation like this might help you to get the gist of something but we wouldn't recommend it for professional use or for any job where an error might cost you money. If we haven't managed to put you off yet, then see our more comprehensive guide to using free translation tools here. Alternatively, if you are interested in how to write your own website so that these free translation tools translate it as accurately as they possibly can, then click here.

Please follow this external link to use Babelfish.

Babelfish is a free machine translation software based on the Systran engine - one of the more well-respected MT engines.

Please note that Geo is not responsible for the content of external websites. Unless they're really very good.
