Afar is an Afro-Asiatic language spoken in Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti. In Djibouti it is recognized as a national language, in Eritrea it is one of the nine national languages and it is also an official working language of the Afar region in Ethiopia.
Afar can be written in four different scripts, including Qafar Feera, a repurposed version of Latin characters created specifically for the Afar language.
