Profile

Hausa is a member of the Afroasiatic language family and is the most widely spoken language within the Chadic branch of that family. Hausa has also been written in ajami, an Arabic alphabet, since the early 17th century. Hausa is also a lingua franca fornon-native speakers in most of Northern Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana and is additionally used as a trade language across West Africa
