Interesting Fact

The Khasi-speaking town of Mawsynram experiences the most rain in India; an average annual rainfall of 11,872 mm, and is thus known as “the wettest place on Earth”.

Khasi is an Austroasiatic language spoken in the Meghalaya state in India. It is also spoken in Assam and Bangladesh. Khasi has been an associate official language of some districts in Meghalaya since 2005, and as of May 2012, UNESCO no longer considered it an endangered language.
