Clear communication for a fast-moving energy world
Energy & renewable energies
Powering global energy with precision translations
From fossil fuels
to future-proof power
Few industries face such relentless pressure to evolve – and deliver – as the energy sector. Over the last two decades, we’ve witnessed the transition to lower carbon energy first hand. We were originally translating content relating to traditional energies, while we now work with companies providing technology for more sustainable alternatives and a liveable future. From wind and solar to biofuels and battery tech, we speak the language of innovation.
New technologies bring new terminology, so our specialist translators are ready to handle whatever comes next. Whether it’s energy storage systems, hydrogen production, or offshore wind installation, we deliver technically accurate translations that stand up to scrutiny. Fast turnarounds, consistent terminology, and rigorous QA are all part of the package.
Fully charged translation technology
Our custom-trained AI tools are tailored to your preferred terminology, tone, and content type, enabling faster turnaround times and seamless scalability across large or complex projects. By learning from your existing materials, glossaries, and style preferences, they deliver consistency at speed—without compromising accuracy. Every translation is then reviewed and refined by specialist linguists with deep energy-sector expertise, ensuring the final result is technically precise, compliant, and ready for real-world use.
Supporting global demand
From exploration and infrastructure to compliance and community engagement, we provide language support throughout the project lifecycle. With 20 years’ experience, 12,000 linguists, and 330+ language pairs.
Technical content.
We translate and localize technical specifications and manuals, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, IOMs and safety data sheets.
Design.
Multilingual design capability for CAD drawings, InDesign, XML, technical illustrations, diagrams and more.
Compliance.
We align translations with industry terminology and frameworks like IEC standards, the EU Renewable Energy Directive, and global ESG disclosure protocols.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can Geo Language Services translate materials about sustainable energies?
Yes. Renewable energy is a fast-growing part of our energy practice — offshore and onshore wind, solar PV, hydrogen (green, blue, grey), CCUS, geothermal, energy storage, smart grid, EV charging infrastructure. Linguists are assigned by sub-technology and project stage (development, EPC, operations, commercial) rather than as generic renewables translators.
-
How does Geo Language Services stay on top of new terms created for new technologies in the energy sector?
Through continuous engagement with the sector, collaborative termbase management with clients, and linguist specialism. New terminology emerges constantly in energy transition technologies; we add new terms to client termbases as they appear, validate them with clients before they’re applied at scale, and circulate updates to the relevant linguist teams.
-
Can AI be trained for preferred terminology?
Domain-adapted engines plus client-specific termbases are how we enforce preferred terminology in AI-aided workflows. Engine adaptation training on a corpus of your approved content is an option for clients with sustained volume; for most clients, the combination of a sector-trained engine plus your termbase plus expert post-editing delivers consistent terminology without bespoke engine training.
-
How does Geo Language Services align translations with industry frameworks such as IEC standards?
Through linguist selection and terminology management. Standards-aligned content (IEC, ISO, IEEE, API, ASTM, sector-specific standards) is translated by linguists familiar with the relevant framework, against approved terminology that reflects the standard’s prescribed vocabulary. Where target-market translations of the standard exist, we align with the official terminology used in those translations.
-
Can Geo Language Services localize process flow diagrams?
Yes. Process flow diagrams, P&IDs, single-line diagrams and equivalent technical drawings are translated and typeset in their source design tool — preserving symbol conventions, callout positioning and the technical integrity of the drawing. Where source files are flattened or unavailable, we can recreate editable versions as part of the localization workflow.
