Translation services for the Energy & Environment sector

Earth, Environment & Energy

With 20 years at the forefront of subject knowledge, we are particularly proud of our track record in this vital and transformative area. Whether translating international frameworks, technical reports, ESIAs or stakeholder materials, we help you communicate complex ideas clearly, credibly and responsibly - across languages, regions and audiences.

Our translations are delivered by a global network of over 15,000 vetted linguists, each specialising in their field. This includes experienced engineers, geologists, and environmental scientists who understand the technical and regulatory complexities of these sectors. Their expertise allows us to adapt and refine your content for international audiences while preserving technical precision and intent.

Sustainability is also central to how we work. Our in-house team actively supports environmental and social responsibility initiatives as members of ISEP, participants in the UN Global Compact, and proud sponsors of the IAIA conference. Through our work on translating international frameworks and standards, we’ve helped shape the language used across the industry worldwide.

Expert-Led.
Technology-Enabled.

We use AI where it adds genuine value-accelerating translation and streamlining workflows – while recognising that precision in translated scientific content depends on human expertise. By combining intelligent technology with the knowledge of our subject-matter specialists, we reduce turnaround times without sacrificing accuracy. This approach allows our experts to focus on the critical nuances that define your industry, ensuring translations are both efficient and fit for purpose.

What our clients say

My absolute favourite thing about Geo Languages is your character and personality: you all come across as intelligent, witty people and it's so refreshing after dealing with the forced, business-speak politeness of many of our suppliers.
Just to let you that it is ALWAYS a great pleasure to work with you, your team is amazing, very kind and fun. Please don't change that, this is so refreshing :)
Brilliant. Always able to turn requests around quickly, especially good with our last minute 'can you just...' amendments, and even if our initial contact's not in the office I know that whoever picks up the project will handle it well.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can Geo Language Services help with geology translations?

Yes. Geosciences and seismic content is one of our long-standing technical specialisms, covering exploration reports, well logs and completion reports, seismic surveys and interpretation, reservoir engineering, geophysics, geochemistry, mineralogy, hydrogeology and environmental site assessments. We hold ISEP affiliation and assign linguists with documented geoscience backgrounds.

  • How is Geo Language Services committed to sustainability?

Geo is a member of the UN Global Compact, supporting its Ten Principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. We are official translation partners to TNFD (Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) — meaning we have helped translate the standards that organisations themselves rely on. Sustainability is a core vertical for us, not a marketing claim.

  • Is human expertise still utilised where AI is a part of the workflow?

Always. In technical and environmental content, AI is a productivity tool and never a substitute for subject expertise. Every AI-aided project is post-edited by a qualified human linguist who verifies terminology, checks technical accuracy, catches the omissions and false friends typical of MT output and signs off the result. Independent revision follows where required.

  • Does Geo Language Services have linguists who specialise in engineering?

Yes. Our engineering linguists cover mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, process, control systems, automotive, aerospace and software engineering. Many hold engineering qualifications in addition to translation credentials. Linguists are assigned by sub-discipline rather than as engineering generalists — a control systems manual and a structural engineering report need different expertise.

  • How does Geo Language Services refine technical translations for international audiences?

Through in-country review, locale-specific terminology management and where needed, technical SME review. Linguists are in-country native speakers who understand regional terminology and regulatory conventions. Terminology is held in client-specific termbases that distinguish locale variants (e.g. EN-US vs EN-UK technical terms), and where the content is high-risk or audience-critical, we add a technical specialist review step.
